The Boston Club Lifetime Achievement Award

In December 2008, The Boston Club awarded Jim McCaffrey, New England market leader, a lifetime achievement award for the many years he has spent actively supporting its annual Census of Women Directors and Executive Officers of Massachusetts Public Companies.

Life & Pensions survey

Mercer has topped the polls in an annual survey by Life & Pensions magazine. It was ranked number one in four different categories: "overall consultants", "investment consulting – manager selection", "administration and technology" and "strategic advice". Mercer was also ranked second in all other areas of consulting -"longevity risk management", "ALM/LDI advice" and "pensions actuarial/valuation/accounting". Competition was very close in a number of these categories, with Mercer just a percentage point below the number one ranked company.

Patriot Award

Mercer was recognized by the Massachusetts division of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for supporting its employees who are also members of the National Guard or Reserve for the Armed Forces.

HR Leadership Award at the World HRD Congress

Wei Zheng, principal for Mercer's human capital business in Asia Pacific, was recognized for his contributions to human resources with the HR Leadership Award at the World HRD Congress in Mumbai, India.

Risk Management Firm of the Year

Mercer has won the Risk Management Firm of the Year category at the 2009 European Pensions Awards, organized by European Pensions magazine. The award was presented to Mercer for its role in helping pension funds across Europe develop new and robust risk management strategies tailored to the challenges they faced throughout 2008. A panel of judges, consisting of 22 senior leaders from the European pensions industry, voted Mercer the winner.

Black Achievers in Industry Award

Jennifer Pickett Frasier, a human resources partner for Mercer's mergers and acquisitions group and Mercer's US diversity leader, was recently honored as part of the Harlem YMCA's 39th National Salute to Black Achievers in Industry (BAI). Michael Blackshear, senior vice president and south zone compliance officer at Marsh, was also honored. Both were selected by a cross-MMC panel from a national pool of candidates nominated by the MMC operating companies.

Singapore HR Vendors of the Year

Mercer has been ranked the top HR Outsourcing Vendor, Compensation & Benefit Consultant and Employee Healthcare Consultant at the Singapore HR Vendors of the Year 2008 Awards, which were organized by Human Resources Magazine, Singapore. Mercer also came in third in the Insurance Vendor category.

UK Investment Consultant of the Year

Mercer has been named Investment Consultant of the Year at the Professional Pensions UK Pensions Awards 2009. A panel of judges, consisting of 12 senior names from the pensions industry, voted Mercer the winner. The award recognizes the firm's innovation and communication in investment consultancy services over the last 12 months.

Mercer was named Pension Adviser of the Year at the Corporate Adviser Awards 2009, which took place in London on 12 February 2009. The award recognizes the strength of Mercer's innovation and expertise in pensions advice, including its Financial Strategy Group, innovative modellers for funding and investment, as well as longevity risk, alternative savings approach and online buyout auctions.

Mercer has won the gold award for investment consultancy at the 2009 Investment & Pensions Europe Real Estate Awards. It is the third time in the last four years that Mercer has won this category. The IPE Real Estate Awards honor investors and service providers for performance, transparency and innovation in investing within the real estate sector.

Mercer chief physician and national thought leader Arnold Milstein, MD, MPH, accepted the 2009 Founders' Award from the American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ) at the group's annual conference, Medical Quality 2009, held in Los Angeles on February 14.

Cathy Veinbachs, a consultant in the HR effectiveness segment of the human capital business, was awarded the International Association for Human Resources Information Management's (IHRIM) Summit Award on April 20 at IHRIM's Conference & Technology Exposition.

Mercer has won the Communication Specialist category at the Pensions and Investment Adviser Awards 2009, organized by FT business publications, Pensions Week and Pensions Management. The award recognizes Mercer's innovations, service standards and competitive edge in pension scheme member communication. A panel of judges, consisting of 10 senior professionals from the pensions industry, voted Mercer the winner.

Mercer was presented with two prestigious awards at the China Human Resource Management Grand Awards & Summit, also referred to as the "China's HR Oscars," in Beijing, 11-12 April. Frank Lin, managing director and head of Mercer's human capital business for Greater China, was honored at the ceremony as one of China's Top 10 HR Professionals of the Year and accepted the Top Service Award on the company's behalf.
